I
Thessalonians 4:11-12 And that ye study to be quiet, and
to do your own business, and to work with your own hands
as we commanded you. 12 That ye may walk honestly toward them
that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
Deuteronomy 10:12-13
And now Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but
to fear the LORD the
God, to walk
in all his ways, and
to love Him,
and to serve the LORD
thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
13 To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I
command thee this day for thy good.
Micah 6:6-8 Wherewith
shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God?
Shall I come before him with burnt offering with calves of a year
old?
7 Will the LORD be
pleased with thousands of rams or with ten thousands of rivers of
oil? Shall I give my first born for my transgression, the fruit of
my body for the sin of my soul? 8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what
is good: and what doth LORD require
of thee, but to do
justly, and to love
mercy, and to walk
humbly with thy God.
I Samuel 15:22 And
Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and
sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey
is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams
God is more interested in
our hearts toward him, than our “impressive” deeds and sacrifices
Isaiah 57:15 For thus
saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is
Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of
a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble,
and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
Genesis 5:22-24 And
Enoch lived sixty and five years and begat Methuselah, and Enoch
walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years and
begat sons and daughters. And all the days of Enoch were three
hundred sixty and five years; And Enoch walked with God; and
he was not; for God took him.
How did Enoch walk. I believe it must have been to walk humbly, seek justice and to love mercy.
Titus 2:11-12 For the
grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men.
Teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should
live soberly, righteously and godly, in this present
world.
God's Grace that gives salvation enables us to walk in His way. It isn't our good works
but our love for the LORD and desire to walk in His way and in His grace. By our seeking to know him and walk in obedience to him.
